WSIB Covid-19 Updates

Important: Covid 19 First Aid Training Update

First Aid Course Facilitation

First Aid courses are administered using two options. One is completely instructor led and in a classroom setting. Blended programs have an online component followed by an in class component.

“Blended” First Aid programs consist of an online learning component and a facilitator led practical component that takes place in a classroom setting.

We facilitate in accordance with WSIB’s  First Aid criteria and quality control measures.

As of Nov. 1, 2020,  WSIB has issued the following information:

To help adhere to ongoing restrictions related to COVID-19, and following the advice of public health officials, we encourage providers to continue delivering blended training where possible. We are also extending recertification and certification until June 30, 2021.

Interim Certification for Online Blended Learning Program

WSIB has approved interim certification for the online component of the blended program.

To help keep knowledge of First Aid in the workplace at a critical time the WSIB is endorsing certification and recertification for the knowledge component of the training through blended learning.

We offer the online portion of Blended Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid and issue interim certifications and re-certifications for the knowledge acquisition only.

These will be accepted as evidence of training but the certificates will indicate that the certifications are interim.  In order for the participant to receive full certification or re-certification, a student’s practical skills must be evaluated by an instructor at a later date to ensure that the required first aid competencies have been demonstrated.

The practical component of the course must be scheduled with us immediately upon the end of the pandemic.  It will be the customers responsibility to schedule the practical component of the course.

Interim certifications  will be invoiced for the per person fee  upon enrollment and instructor fees will be invoiced upon the scheduled delivery of the practical component by a Hespro instructor.

If you wish to proceed with in-class training at this time we will do our best to accommodate your requests. We are committed to the safety of our instructors and course participants. In light of the fact that our instructor is not part of your workplace bubble we are mitigating risk until provincial mandates declare it’s safe to resume.  With the evolving situation regarding the second wave of Covid 19 we suggest that you be aware that schedules may be tentative.  We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments to scheduling as required by our customers and by new provincial mandates.
